Sometimes you need to wander a bit to find inspiration. This winter I wandered all the way down to Tulum, Mexico, where I found one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had.
Natural Juice in Tulum served me up a Papaya Pear Smoothie I fell so in love with I came back the next day for more…
Once I returned to California I invented my own version, because if you know me, you know papaya is one of my all-time favorite fruits. There’s nothing like it. Papaya is luscious, sweet, tropical, and melts in your mouth.
Papayas aids in digestion and is high in fiber. Plus it’s high in carotenes, vitamin C, flavonoids, B vitamins, folate, and minerals.
Handy tip: When you bring a papaya home, store it in a brown paper grocery bag. Once it’s really, really ripe and has yellowish-orange spots on the skin, transfer it to the refrigerator or cube it to freeze in a plastic bag.
