Become the Light {cooking meditation}

You are what you eat.

I truly believe if / when humanity shifts to veganism, it will result in a global enlightenment. Veganism will usher in the compassionate society we pray for.

Why? Animals release fear hormones when slaughtered. Anyone who participates in the meat and dairy ingests and contributes to needless pain and suffering. This contradicts our true values.

We can say we value human rights, care about the planet, and don’t want to cause suffering. But it’s hollow words until or actions catch up. Animals are sentient too. They deserve to live out their life’s for their own purposes, just as we all do.

Instead of eating rotting corpses, we can eat plants – freshly photosynthesized sunlight! This energizes our bodies in a beautifully healthy, vibrant way. As soon as I went vegan, I felt so much better. My soul felt light. My body felt light. I became the light!

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.  – Plato

I think vegan-shaming is due to fear. Fear to change, fear of judgement, fear of the unknown.  But to me, what’s much more scary is to live in contradiction with my true values – compassion, love, kindness. Veganism is our path back to our true values.

Thank you for your interest in compassion,
♥ Meghan
