How to Throw a Vegan Wedding

We were blessed to wed surrounded by family and friends at our favorite biodynamic and vegan winery in Sonoma.

Our two rules were: Vegan Everything and Fun for Everyone.

We wanted our day to be 100% cruelty-free to reflect our truest values. Since we’re all about the animals, each table was assigned a different spirit animal:

As for fashion – I’m not one for makeup but I did wear some vegan Zuzu lipstick and Larenim eyeshadow.

Silk is one of the most common products found in wedding attire, but I happily found a pre-loved dress, made in America, with poly. Rob’s suit was poly too:

It was easy enough to find some great vegan champagne from Trader Joes for the reception…

Rob came up with the brilliant idea to get Oakland’s Souley Vegan to cater the most delicious Louisiana-style soul food!

Corn bread, BBQ tofu, potato salad, yams, mustard greens, black-eyed peas, southern fried tofu, you name it…

The owner, Tamearra Dyson created the perfect blend of southern fried comfort food with gourmet elegance.

For cake we ordered several of the infamous Chocolate Midnight Cakes from the 5-star gourmet restaurant, The Millennium, (gluten-free!)

A little taste of vegan heaven…

I hear some couples run into trouble with family about hosting an all-vegan wedding. Remember – this is one of the biggest days of your life, and it’s a spiritual celebration. If your core values include compassion for animals, hopefully your family can enjoy one plant-based meal to celebrate your union with respect and love!
